Keratoconus which was first described in detail in 1854 is a bilateral and asymmetric corneal degeneration characterized by localized corneal thinning which leads to protrusion of the thinned cornea. Corneal protrusion causes high myopia and irregular astigmatism, affecting visual quality. It usually becomes apparent during the second decade of the life.

Since 2005 owing to the introduction of refraction surgery and laser technology, modern laser surgeries (PRK,LASIK) are conducted in our Center which can save people from wearing eyeglasses and lenses. These surgeries are performed with the help of American most recent system “Alcon” and an instrument called microkeratome which provides patients with new “LASIK” technology.
